Calligraphy
A class designed to teach how to write beautifully in both Korean and Chinese.
In the process of learning calligraphic techniques, you will develop your appreciation for Korean poetry and literature, which were written with Chinese Characters.
Korean Painting
A painting class in which you learn to express the beauty of nature and the Korean spirit through the use of simple black ink with subtle use of colors.
Korean Music : Gayageum, Danso, Daegeum, Janggo, Singing Korean Folksongs and Pansori
A class designed to learn the beauty of Korean traditional music, including court music and folk music, and how to play lyrical Korean traditional bamboo flutes, Danso and Daegeum: the 12-stringed instrument of Gayageum and dynamic Korean drum, Janggo and Buk. In addition, there is a singing class for Korean Folksongs and Pansori (a genre of musical story-telling performed by a vocalist with drum accompaniment).
Maedeup ( Korean Traditional Knotting )
Maedeup is a traditional Korean art form of knotting silken threads or cords which has a 3,000 year history. In Maeeup class, students are not only studying the 38 different knotting patterns and reproducing them, but also developing new forms of Meadeup applicaple to today's needs.
Korean Dance
Enrich your understanding of Korean arts and culture by learning its traditional dances.
You will learn the fundamental breathing techniques, and component hand and foot movements,
of Korean dance, as well as learn about the music which accompanies this elegant art form.
The Four Gracious Plants Painting
The oriental painting using a brush and black ink on paper focusing on the four gracious plants;
cherry blossom, orchid, mum, and bamboo. It evokes the grace and loftiness of a noble character.
Manners and Korean Tea Culture
Learning manners and etiquettes in Korean culture will give you a better understanding of Korean people, history, tea culture and spirit.
Study of Chinese Characters
There are many cultural links between Korea and China, especially in the approach to literature.
Learning Chinese ideograph characters will allow you to read traditional and classic Chinese literature,
and give you an opportunity to learn invaluable life lessons in the process.
Baduk
Baduk is an ancient strategic board game. It is played by two players placing balck and white stones on the vacant intersections of a 19 by 19 line grid. Baduk benefits in various ways: gain confidense, learn to solve problems, build discipline, increase concentration, and develop critical thinking skills.
Taste of Korean Food
Learn how to appreciate and understand the beauty of Korean food in general as well as learn how to cook some of popular Korean traditional dishes. This class will help you for better understanding of Korean history and spirit. Hands-on workshops with various chefs and instructors will introduce you the taste of Korean food. It opens to all ages.
